Rambling on....

G4MKP

I gave my K3 another RTTY run out for the WAE contest this weekend. Filter set-up exactly the same as CQWW RTTY using the High/low cut-off to about 200Hz made for simple copy of even the weakest US low power stations. The rig once again performed flawlessly and with the newly acquired small beam (TGM) I was able to ‘null’ out most of the EU wall. In fact, I set the bandwidth to 600Hz and could still work reasonably comfortably – the beam helping here. CQWW CW to look forward to at the end of this month. It will be interesting to compare my score against the FT2000 in 2007.

As an aside, I noticed today that the rear panel plate holding the mic in/line in/out sockets is loose. Removing the top cover reveals that getting to the panel is not so straightforward. Is there a sequenced procedure for this minor bit of maintenance?

Finally, I ordered the KRX + filters on 10 Sep 08. When can I expect it?

Cheers,

Terry

Hi Terry:

There's an application note that discusses how to get to the nuts holding that panel as part of making a modification to the K3's AF amplifier.

It was released a couple of  months  ago but searching all over the place I cannot find it on the Elecraft Web site.

I'll send you a copy directly.

I ordered my KRX3 on February 1 this year and am still waiting Terry. That was in the days of $2 to the pound - may end up costing up to 25% more now. Should have stashed a load of green backs when I was over there last year enjoying a cheap holiday....

Well, I ordered mine on 8 April 2008 and was told in July that it would be several months.
I queried again in September and there was still approx 2 months to go, so hopefully
mine will arrive before Christmas.

We've just brought on two more techs to kick up the KRX3 test and ship
rate. (Test and alignment is the gating item for these.) This should
start impacting the KRX3 backlog ship rate in a major way in the next
couple of weeks.
