Random Wire from KAT2

Nick Garner
Howdy Folks,
I usually run my KX1 like this <http://n3wg.com/kx1.jpg>, with wire straight
off the antenna connector using the internal tuner.  I've had my K2 for
about 8 years now and I'd like to add the internal tuner.  Is anyone running
wire straight off the KAT2 antenna connectors when portable or can you see
any problems with doing this with the KAT2?

Thank you and 73,
Nick

It works fine on the K2, also.  If you direct-connect ladderline in
this way, you can get unbalanced currents on the feedline, which may
distort the antenna pattern some but otherwise work fine as well.

The KAT2 is one of the nicest K2 modules., both to build and to use.

Hi Nick,

I'm currently using my K2 QRP with the internal tuner and a few meters of wire strung out the window. It's connected directly to the K2 via a BNC-banana adapter like you do with your KX-1 and works OK for me, I even made a few 160m QSO-s. I also do have something like a dipole cut for 7 MHz that I feed with 2m of coax and tune this on 15m. Works really nice and the ability to switch two antennas is great, I only wish that you could assign one antenna output of the tuner as receive antenna (RANT).
