Re: Config:Wattmeter

Steven.Zabarnick

This bug in the wattmeter calibration still exists in the latest firmware.
Pressing XMIT during the wattmeter calibration does not transmit, and
pressing TUNE does not permit a change of the calibration paramter. On the
other hand keying the rig via a keyer does allow the calibration to be
performed.

Re: Config:Wattmeter

Hi Steve:

You're right. There is a disconnect between the manual and how the
firmware acts. There is a work-around, though. If you set up per the
instructions with the external wattmeter in line to a dummy load, set
power to precisely 5.0 watts for LP adjustment, go to CONFIG:WMTR, you
will see a number above (mine 073) and WMTR  LP below. The work around
goes like this...

*Press/Hold* the XMIT/TUNE button. This puts K3 in transmit mode. Look
at the external wattmeter and note the reading. If it does NOT read 5
watts, then *Tap* the XMIT/TUNE button and you will be back in the
CONFIG:WMTR menu. Adjust the Number by rotating VFO A knob. [I think if
the power on the external meter was greater than 5 watts, you increase
the number, but you can check]. Then repeat the above...Press/Hold
XMIT/TUNE, note reading, Tap XMIT/TUNE to get back to the CONFIG:WMTR
for additional adjustment if any is necessary. When you are done, Tap
the Menu button.

Hope this helps...

73,
Ken K3IU

In reply to this post by Steven.Zabarnick
I have built two K3's (the last one in March 09) and the calibration worked
fine
then.

As you say, there are work arounds but it would sure be nice if the K3
worked
as the manual shows.
