I use the same settings carried over from the last Simon issue.
The new team has created new bugs. :o( Rick WA6NHC -----Original Message----- From: David S. Mulvey I am having trouble with the new Ham Radio Deluxe Version 5.1 software release. Since I upgraded to 5.1, my Windows 7 PC and HRD will communicate using the Elecraft USB/Serial cable as evidenced by seeing the K3 frequency in the HRD K3 emulation screen. However, after a few minutes the K3 emulation locks up and stops communicating with the K3. I am using a K3, P3 and a KPA500 all with current firmware, at 38.4 Kbps on USB emulation Comm 6, when the HRD K3 emulation locks up, the Elecraft K-Line continues to communicate among themselves correctly. Has anyone on the forum made the HRD 5.1 upgrade and if so, how do you have your Comm settings set? Thank you in advance for your ideas and help! 73's N3CAQ ----- David S. HI Rick,
I am running using windows xp with no problems with version 5.1, in fact some problems that I had for shutting down and locking up have been corrected. My settings are COM1 at 38,400 baud. I am also using dm780 for digital modes with no issues at all either. If there is something specific you want to have me look at let me know. ~73 Don KD8NNU On Sun, Feb 19, 2012 at 1:53 PM, Rick Bates wrote: > I use the same settings carried over from the last Simon issue. > > The new team has created new bugs. :o( > > Rick WA6NHC > > > -----Original Message----- > From: David S. Hello,
Since I switched to HRD version 5.1, I am getting random frequency 'jumps' without user intervention (no knob turning, no changes on the HRD commands) and when I do click on the DX cluster, it will often (but not always) change modes. This appears to be an attempt at setting the correct mode according to frequency, but it is inconsistent at best. I'm using the same settings as migrated from the last version. 73, Rick WA6NHC -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2012 11:09 AM To: Rick Bates Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Ham Radio Deluxe Version 5.1 Trouble with K-Line HI Rick, I am running using windows xp with no problems with version 5.1, in fact some problems that I had for shutting down and locking up have been corrected. Hi Rick,
I dont know about the random frequency jumps, but the changing of modes is someting new in version 5.1. Some like it some dont. Me I do not like it and there is discussion on maybe in the future that there is a selection to make it do what you want it to do. Are you on the HRD group in yahoo groups, it has become quite active since the release of 5.1 and some good information is being exchanged and some shall we just say bad information also. Don,
No I haven't joined there. I'm already sifting through 125-300 emails a day (after I dropped 17 groups three months ago!). I'll join and read from the web; that will limit my inbox. Even when moving within the 'CW' portion of a band (I've been doing DX S&P some in the contest), its changing modes when I tap the DX cluster entry. I find no menu setting to en/disable the mode set 'feature' or set any parameters. It's very poor programming style to add something new and untested without any chance for the user to turn that feature off. Yes, it's beta, but they 'broke' it. It doesn't bode well for the new owners. If I can set the ranges (a-b for CW, b-c for data, c-d for phone) then it might be useful. It would be more useful to allow me to set the K3 mode when switching modes in DM780 too (Data A for PSK, CW for CW). But until it is finished, allow me to turn it OFF. There is also a new "Radio Operations Center" but no documentation at all. I haven't tried it since I don't know what it does or how to implement it. But something new in this version is still causing the VFO to jump (only 3-5 KHz, but it is never appropriate). I checked the port values and they're appropriate. Something else is belching in this version. 73, Rick WA6NHC -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] Hi Rick, I dont know about the random frequency jumps, but the changing of modes is someting new in version 5.1.
