Keith AK6ZZ From: Ham Radio Sent: Monday, November 19, 2012 9:00 PM To: Elecraft group email Subject: {K3} New Upload of MCU stuck I was uploading my newly arrived, upgraded and fixed K3 serial 1526 from the factory to the latest version and it froze with the MCU LD displayed and the K3 utility program asking to be closed. I was doing the upgrade of the MCU through a virtual port set up by Microham uRouter program and something did not go correctly. I need some help with this. I unplugged it and it doing the same thing. The transmit light is flashing and the MCU LD is displaying. I just received the K3 today after a month and I would like to get it working again. It would be nice to share what you found - rather than just saying the
answer is in the book(s). Bill,
I think what he learned is that one should not attempt to do a firmware load through the Microham Router. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/20/2012 6:17 AM, Bill Clarke wrote: > It would be nice to share what you found - rather than just saying the > answer is in the book(s). > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

No problem.
I tried uploading the firmware update through the virtual port created by uRouter program from MicroHam. This is a major "no no". I followed the instructions as per Fred's manual that I needed to follow the bootstrap procedure for failed upload and found out that I needed a direct not virtual com port to do the upload and that using a virtual port will result in the issue of the upload locking up. I used a serial to serial connector after removing all connectors and followed the procedure cited in the help portion under troubleshooting and voila the firmware uploaded and alles en ordnung. Hope this helps. I was a bit excited when I was able to get the answer by reading cady's manual and I wanted to give Fred some props for his very thorough and helpful book on the K3.
