Considering all the strange looking panels Kenwood has designed recently, that radio is definately aimed as competition to the K3. So Kenwood can make a plain looking black box, but will it perform? :>)

If they use down conversion with a low first IF, and leave space for a few roofing filters, it could be a good radio.

Where I bet they screw up, will be no IF out or sub-receiver option. That will be available in the new $8000 Kenwood.

Very interesting.
