Hello All
I am new to the list Have just started building my K2 Eric. Can't promise to screw it up but no doubt I will call for help sometime. One question. Just assembled the control board & carried out the resistance checks. I did not find any shorts but some of the resistance values did not match the figures given. I realise it will be tested later but the instructions made no mention of what to check if the resistances were not as specified. Regards Dave Lindsay GM4HQF G-QRP #2513 Aberdeen --- avast! Welcome Dave,
Not been here too long myself, but you will meet a lot of super and very helpful folk who go a bit daft when CERTAIN subjects are discussed!! I don't have enough experience with the K2 to answer your question but I'm sure that you will receive informed answers. Enjoy your K2 beastie. 73, Geoff GM4ESD ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Lindsay" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2005 9:44 AM Subject: [Elecraft] Re: Knob > Hello All > > I am new to the list > > Have just started building my K2 Eric. Dave,
Welcome to the list. I am not certain what you mean by "did not match", and in this instance the meaning is quite important. There are 3 resistance ranges shown in the chart - yes, your readings should fall within that range, if not, try reversing your meter probes, using a different meter, check with a fixed range instead of auto-ranging, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, check your work closely for proper value components, shorts, etc. All the remaining resistance readings are of the "greater than" variety (that is what the ">" symbol indicates). If you obtained a reading higher than that indicated, all is well, but if your reading was lower, start looking for the error - component values, soldering, etc. -- note that if your readings were just a tad lower, it may be nothing more than difference in your meter compared to the ones used to create the chart. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > I am new to the list > > Have just started building my K2 Eric. Such a promise is not necessary, David. Hi. Welcome to the list. I hope you
have an enjoyable building experience. I KNOW you will have many enjoyable operating experiences. The K2 is a great rig, and I certainly don't see anything on the horizon I would trade mine for. I'm STILL trying to dump the TS-950S that the K2 replaced, but no takers yet. But if you DO have a problem or a question, you won't find a nicer or more knowledgeable bunch of experts to help than right here.
