Do complaining parties believe that Elecraft is holding back and can solve delivery issues immediately with appropriate efforts, if only enough hate and discontent can be stirred up against them? If not, let me ask again: What is the purpose of raising these issues endlessly, unless it is to lay a base for third-party predator-scavenger (i.e., lawyer) enrichment? I waited more than six months in 2000 for delivery of the simple K1. The same wait today for the order-of-magnitude more complex K3 has apparently left some with their panties all in a wad. Amazing! This list has become very tiresome since the K3 was announced. Hi Mike -
Thanks for your thoughts. Wow. Well...ummm...okay...here goes... I *THOUGHT* I've made my reasons ridiculously clear, SEVERAL times: I would like timely, accurate reporting of the K3's status from Elecraft. That's it! I don't think that's too much to ask....do you? The "lay a base for third-party predator-scavenger (i.e., lawyer) enrichment? " theory is too "out there" for me to even comment upon, except to say it's "out there". I would also take issue with your "endless" characterization. I've held my pen (keyboard?) through the July missed date, and really have made only a few posts other than the one in January - my "OPEN LETTER", and the "TRANSLATION" spoof this month. Everything else is back-and-forth with those commenting upon those e-mails. Hope this helps! Take care and 73, Steve NN4X EL98jh NN4X wrote: >Personally, I don't think so, and I'm voicing my opinion. > >Now, if I was absolutely, 100% morally outraged, I'd cancel my order Why not address the issue of just what this repetitive non-stop nonsense is supposed to remedy? While I haven't yet ordered a K3, I intend to once I finish a non-radio project I'm in the midst of and return to active ham radio. Having been an RF design engineer with several communications companies I have experienced some of the multitude of things that can go wrong after the design and prototyping are complete and you enter production. And that was before software entered the arena. Based on the performance of my K2 and KX1 it is my firm belief that the team at Elecraft will solve the problems that have surfaced and get things back on track. As a customer I would rather they delay further deliveries until they get things right than ship radios with known problems. For a short time I worked for a company that would ship new systems with known problems then work to solve the problems when the customers complained. As I understand it Elecraft is not charging the K3 customers until shipment as they did with the K2 when it first came out. They are therefore taking all the risk of losing their customers to others because of the delays rather than charging on order and having their customers fund the extra work needed to solve the problems. If we give them the time to fix it we will be the ultimate winners because we will continue to have an American company making state of the art ham radio equipment so we can enjoy our hobby. Gene ...
