Speaking of knobs for the K2, does anybody know of alternate knob types for
the knobs other than the tuning knob? I think that a K2 would look even better with small, white-line-indexed, fluted, skirted knobs like the ones on the old Hammarlund receivers. I have seen a few of those from Mouser, et. al., but they seem to be either too large in diameter, or the wrong shaft size. I would be very interested in finding that type of knob to replace the stock knobs, even if they are (relatively) expensive. I have not yet removed mine from its home on the FT-847, but it is about 1 1/2 inch diameter and has a finger-dimple hole and a rubber ring. Yaesu considers the ring a separate part. The FT-900 knob has been discontinued, and many have used the FT-100 knob which is a bit smaller. On my K2s, I have the rubber rings from the FT-900 that are stretched a bit and placed over the stock K2 knob - you can add a finger-dimple if you want, I have little use for them, but that is just my style. 73, Don W3FPR _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I've always been happy with the Factory Knob with the Finger Dimple, but
then again I almost never touch the radio, I let Ham Radio Deluxe and DM780 do that. Why would you want to change?
Being natural has it's own beauty, witness too much makeup on a lovely lady. And why does the ft-900 knob remind me of Jimmy Durante? :) 73...ted....aa5ck Steve Harvey wrote: > Speaking of knobs for the K2, does anybody know of alternate knob types for > the knobs other than the tuning knob? > > > _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi all,
I fear that with all the years of discussing a different knob for the K2 that eventually some of us will have a knob on our K2 so large (like from a boatanchor) that one will have to rotate the radio instead of the knob in order to tune the thing. ;o) At least my cat likes the stock knob. www.pituch.net/personal/Steve's%20Page/Radio/cat/Cat.htm Steve, W2MY -- No virus found in this outgoing message. The cat pics are too funny! Thanks.
We used to have a yellow lab named Dusty who would do silly little things, often so stupid they were funny. I read that crows are smarter than cats or dogs. I think it's true. Perhaps I can get some of the ole timey machine operators at the streetcar museum to work on protypes. I hereby lay claim to retrorollers, rf rollers and such other names that describe the product. 73,Thom-k3hrn www.zerobeat.net Home of QRP Web Ring, Drakelist home page,Drake Web Ring, QRP IRC channel, Drake IRC Channel, Elecraft Owners Database www.tlchost.net/hosting/ *** Web Hosting as low as 3.49/month www.baltimorestreetcar.org _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
