Red and Green Enamel Wire

Hi to the list,
Just a quick question is the enamel wire, both the red and green the same wire used throughout all the kits/modules the same? Other than a possible fit problems using larger wire, it shouldn't matter for the low-power circuits (the different colors are to reduce confusion on transformers). The KPA100 uses #22 wire for the low-pass filters, which is probably dictated by power-handling and loss. The wire sizes do vary from kit to kit. Most of the wire is #26, but the KSB2 uses some #28 for the toroids that are small and with many turns (where #26 will not fit). The KPA100 requires the higher current rating of larger wire for the LPF toroids, and the KAT100 uses an even larger wire. Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies from all of you, Tom N0SS, Don W3FPR and Bob N7XY. I thought that different gauges would be in use, especially when I saw how small RFC 1 and 2 are in the KSB2 module :) At first I thought they were washers when I was sorting the parts out and doing the checklist :) I have used the red and green enamel supplied with each module, keeping what's left over as spares. Tomorrow RFC 1 and 2 and the two transformers will be added to the SSB board, Then I'll get started on the RS232 board as I can't use a rig now without CAT control, once you start to use CAT control, you just can't imagine controlling a rig any other way :) 73 Gary G7USC At 23:06 21/05/2007, you wrote: >Gary, > >The wire sizes do vary from kit to kit.
