For those of you who may be interested, I sent the following query to
Lisa at Elecraft: I apologize for adding to your load but I have a quick question. I have an order in place for a K3. I would like to make changes to my order. Should I wait for a notice from Elecraft that my order is about to ship and inquiring whether I have changes to make? OR, should I go ahead (now) and tell you the changes I wish to make to my order? Lisa's response: Thank you for your inquiry. The earlier the better for changes. You can just email them to me and I can acknowledge that we have received them. Prior to shipment we will then email you copy of your invoice so that you can confirm all items. It helps us to know as soon as possible so that we can have the items you want when we ship. Thank you, Lisa Jones Mike W5FTD _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Rather than add to Lisa's load I'll first ask here ....
Has anyone inquired about paying the balances that many / most of us will owe when the K3's are ready to ship? I'm under the impression that a CC # used for the initial deposit is NOT kept on file and therefore she'll need a CC # to cover the balance. Perhaps we'll all get an e-mailed invoice with everything listed that will serve to confirm that we're being sent what we ordered. Maybe this is a question for Eric or Wayne to answer ... 73! a deposit. (Eric/Lisa) Can you advise us how we proceed? We will be contacted by Lisa - until we hear something then there's nothing
to worry about. In my case I did not pay by credit card. I wouldn't mind some guidance on which method is best to choose for
shipping to the UK. I know that this has been discussed before but I don't recall it resulting in a clear recommendation. -- Julian, G4ILO K2 s/n: 392 K3 s/n: ??? I can't even remember what's on my order now, and there was some
question about substituting other roofing filters for the default one. I'd like to know what's the best way of finding what we've got ordered, so we can change that order if desired. 73, doug _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Both FedEx and USPS have worked well for me this year for material sent from
the States. If Elecraft uses these shippers and Lisa (Elecraft) gives you a "Tracking number" you can follow the shipment on-line. The part of the journey which takes most time in my experience is from the UK port of entry to Scotland which is handled by Parcel Force, e.g. 3 days from the West Coast USA to the UK, 5 working days from England to Scotland. Once the shipment has cleared UK Customs and with the tracking number to hand, the Parcel Force depot from which the shipment will be delivered to you can be contacted by 'phone, and any chages owing can be paid by bank or credit card. If the Parcel Force depot is not named, Parcel Force will send you a letter containing this information and the depot's 'phone number. 73, Geoff GM4ESD On Friday, September 14, 2007 at 8:37 AM, Julian G4ILO wrote: >I wouldn't mind some guidance on which method is best to choose for > shipping to the UK. Thanks. I opted for USPS. I still had my order acknowledgement email,
so I was able to use the link to send Elecraft updated credit card information, and add a note updating my ordered items. US Postal Service Express Mail International, at 3 - 5 days looks the best to me. You can check via their web site for delivery times, etc. The UPS option offers 2 - 5 business days at twice the price! 73 Dave, G4AON ============================================================ I wouldn't mind some guidance on which method is best to choose for shipping to the UK. US Post (packages) has always taken longer for me but this may be beyond their area of responsibility, i.e. the European side of the pond. I'll likely use UPS because they come to our company every morning anyways. I'm more worried about whether the kit will reach me by the first of October; silly, stupid, evil, misbegotten, horrid, ignoble, sleazy, slatternly, ribald, cheeky, impudent, uppity, snooty, contemptuous, *******, ******, <bleeb>, <bleeb>, <bleeb> missing part vendors. I'll be away for most of October (Montenegro for WAG and CQWW-SSB among other places). I may have to ask Elecraft to wait until I'm back home in November. vy 73 de toby _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Ah....since I have no couth, culture or appreciation of the finer points of music, most times it reminds me of cats fighting. It appears that the bamboo splits may be the best option for the vendors. Bagpipes! How do you make a chain saw sound like bagpipes? Add vibrato. Why do pipers walk while they play? To get away from the sound. What's the difference between a bagpipe and an onion? Nobody cries when you chop up a bagpipe. What's the difference between a bagpipe and a trampoline? You take your shoes off when you jump on a trampoline. A man with a set of bagpipes in the back seat of his car stopped in front of the bank in down town NY City. While in the bank, he remembered he forgot to lock his car. Fearing the worst, he rushed back to his car but it was too late. Someone had already put another set of bagpipes into the vehicle. - Keith N1AS - - K2 5411.ssb.100 - _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. As a piper, I don't know if I should take exception to this suggestion...
For the sake of good reflector relations I'll assume that you are referring to the voluminous, rousing tones of this ancient instrument and not to an opinion that the bagpipe often sounds like a screeching cat. :-) Mychael AA3WF K2# 1025 > Perhaps Eric might find some live bagpipe music useful to wake up his > suppliers :-) > > Geoff > GM4ESD _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
