Hi,
my SSB signal is a little bit too bassy after i have modified my ssb-modul from 2.0 to 2.5khz. The filter setting for TRX is OP1 in receive mode with lsb and seems with spectrogram full in range between 0.2 and 2.5khz. What is to adjust? tnx for your help Michael, DC0ZO _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Shift the BFO frequencies so your spectrogram display shows that you are
cutting off a bit more of the low end (end nearest the carrier) and leave a little more of the high frequencies (farthest from the carrier) inside the bandpass. Spectrogram is great, but I'd never count on a scope display to tell me what my signal really sounds like! The final settings are just too precise and vary with the mic you are using and your "ear". That's why the SSB module instructions advise listening to your signal and making the final "tweaks" of the BFO frequencies based on what you hear, not what you see. Remember, only tweak the BFO frequency settings for OPT1. No other filter/BFO setting combination is used for xmit, no matter what filter you have selected for receive. Michael,
It seems that you may have placed the passband too low for a 2.5 kHz filter. For any width filter, the low frequency corner of the passband should be close to 300 Hz. When you install the 2.5 kHz width, set frequency markers in Spectrogram for 300 Hz and 2800 Hz, then set the BFO to center the passband between those markers. If you need more detailed information, look at my website www.qsl.net/w3fpr article on K2 Dial Calibration - Step 3 gives a lot of information about setting the filters. 73, Don W3FPR ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael van Hauten" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, September 23, 2004 1:05 PM Subject: [Elecraft] SSB-TX-Signal is too bassy Hi, my SSB signal is a little bit too bassy after i have modified my ssb-modul from 2.0 to 2.5khz. The easiest solution to bassy SSB is CW.
