Saving Energy and staying dry

Jeremiah McCarthy
I am very concerned about the environment and have seen a lot of beneficial results...However, the dire predictions of global warming 100 years from now really concern me...It reminds me of an old story about amputating a man's arm at the shoulder because he had an infected finger...When Al Gore was in congress many years ago he made a speech predicting a hole in the ozone layer over Kennebunkport...That never happened...Should we take him seriously now?...

As I understand it, there are many green house gasses and CO2 is only a small percentage...Water vapor,  plain old humidity, is the worst offender and there is nothing we can do about it...Every living creature from the smallest flea to the biggest whale exhales CO2 and there is nothing we can do about that, either...

Predictions of global warming are the result of computer modeling and computers are programmed by fallible human beings...There are as many scientists who reject global warming as there are those who predict it, but they get no ink...That is what worries me, we are not hearing both sides...Are we barking up the wrong tree and wasting a lot of money?...

Come to Switzerland, every month a record, glaciers vanishing at a rapid
rate, trees in leaf almost 4 weeks too early.

So much good information and knowledge is shared on this list.
Friendships made without ever meeting face to face.  Do we really want
to start down this divisive path on this wonderful forum?

With all due respect, it's not a matter of global warming 100 years from now.
It is happening RIGHT NOW.  The ice caps are melting at a terrific rate,
ocean levels are rising, small islands are disappearing.  Entire species of
animals are vanishing.  Glacier Park in Montana has gone from 200 glaciers to
just a dozen or so in just the last 10 years.  Crops are already being
affected and that means our food supply.  The list goes on and on.

I understand your analogy of cutting off a man's arm because, of an infected
finger.  However, a man has two arms and if one is amputated there is still
another.  We only have ONE earth.  If we screw it up, we don't get a second
chance.  I would rather error on the side of caution.

It is not true that there are just as many scientists that reject global
warming.  Almost all scientist worldwide now agree that we are in global
warming.  It is no longer a matter of debate.  It has been proven that some
scientist are being paid by large oil interests to keep the debate going.
After all, look at what they have to lose.  It's nice to think that everyone
on earth is looking out for the best interests of everyone else but, that is
simply not true.  The reason that you aren't seeing both sides of the story is
because, you aren't doing any research on your own.  You won't get the truth
by listening to political propaganda.  You need to think for yourself on this
one.

So, no, I don't think we are barking up the wrong tree.  If we keep going the
way we are, there won't be any trees to bark up.  Now, it's also true that the
entire solar system is heating up and changing and has been doing so for the
last ten years.  Whether that is the cause of global warming or part of it, is
not relevant.  It doesn't mean that we can't keep our own global environment
as clean as possible.  We have the technology to produce clean energy.  Why
aren't we seeing it?  I think that one is obvious.

That's the good thing about owning an Elecraft rig.  It doesn't use as much
energy as others and you can go off grid with it and use clean energy.  It
helps the environment.  I'm soon to be a K2 owner and this is just one more
big reason to get one. :-)

Please, take this off list.
Those who have drank their respective kool aids will not be moved.
*on either side*

The Elecraft list is not the place for political dissertations, fantasy's, and
other man made regurgitations.

Please give the rest of us a break!

We now return your mailing list to it's normal channel.......
we hope!
