Slightly cracked ferrite core in BL2 kit

michael taylor-3
I just received my AT1 and BL2 mini-module kits today and one of the
binocular cores from the BL2 balun has a corner cracked from the
shipping process, I mean abuse.

Should I get it replaced or is it a non-issue?

Michael,

If you will ever use the BL2 at its maximum rated power, then by all means
ask for a replacement.  If you will alway use less power than the max, the
real answer is one of asthetics - if you want it to look 'pretty', then
replace it, but it should work just fine even though the corner is damaged.
(These are just 'educated guesses' and free advice - which is worth every
penny you pay for it).

Michael:

I had the same problem with a BL-2 kit. They really should wrap those cores.
Scott at Elecraft sent me a new set of cores the next day.

On a corner like that, absolutely a non-issue.
Go ahead and build and enjoy.
Good luck and 73

REPLACE IT!   It appears like more than a
simple chip, there looks to be a crack
appearing.  IMHO I'd get a new replacement.

Why would you NOT replace it? Don't cheap out. You are going to invest
effort and time, do it right.
