Stereo speakers for k3

Joe-188

I have a pair of MFJ-281 speakers I want to connect to k3 #241. Each speaker has a mono 3.5mm plug at the end of its cable. Does anyone have a better way to connect than by cutting off the connectors and wiring them direct to a 3.5mm stereo plug. There's not much room inside the end of the 3.5mm plug. I'd like to hear from some of you who have already solved this problem.

Thanks,

Joe

Pick up a Y 1/8" stereo adapter at Radio Shack and plug it into the back of
the K3 (speaker jack). Replace both speaker plugs with stereo types and
solder one of  the speaker's hot lead to the tip of one plug and to the
other plug's ring for the other speaker. This is the most expensive and
labor consuming method.
The other method is to take a 1/8" stereo patch cable and chop off the
connector on one end then chop off the connectors on both speakers and wire
all of this together so that each speaker is connected to the appropriate
channel. Be sure to observe polarity and there is no guarantee that the
speakers are wired the same inside so you might want to remove the back and
take a look.
A note on speaker placement:
The MFJ-281 should be placed directly on top the desk, below ear level, not
on a shelf. Also, you will see a huge DB increase by placing the speaker
against a solid object such as a wall etc. Location makes a huge difference.

Joe,

Obtain a Radio Shack PN 274-375 1/8" Dual Mono Jack to 1/8" Stereo Plug
Y Adapter.
Plug your mono speaker plugs into the adapter and plug the adapter into
the K3 speaker jack.
