Ok guys, I get it. I've always worked split with dual vfos but I see the advantage of the ability to hear the other guys instead of shooting blind and hoping the dx staion picks me up. If you don't have something, you don't know you need it! I'll put the sub receiver on the "buy" list. You probably have noticed, there are a lot of Elecraft missionaries lurking
in the weeds here. 73 Joe K2UF No trees were harmed in the sending of this e-mail; however, many electrons were inconvenienced. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of John's email Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2012 10:04 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] Sub receiver Ok guys, I get it. Undoubtedly the sub-rcvr is a lot more convenient for this purpose,
but you can follow the split action pretty well using dual VFO and REV button on a single receiver. With a little practice you can spin the VFO with your thumb while momentarily depressing the REV button with the middle or index finger. On CW if you have a good ear for pitch it is pretty easy to track the stations that the DX is working and repeatedly set your transmit frequency to where he is moving. LOCK your VFOA so you don't detune it in the heat of the pursuit. Also, keep your VFOB filter wide open so you can hear a good swath of the pileup at once. This is a lot of fun. 73, Drew AF2Z .
