Good grief, that was almost TOO EASY with the KPA500 on line! Heard them a few minutes ago on 14.182 indicating they were listening up 5. Hit split, cranked VFO B to 14.187. The amp was already in operate as I had just changed from 15 meter RTTY so I gave 'em a call. Green lights all over the board. 500 out, 1:1 SWR and they came right back on the first one! It don't get too much better than that, but like I said, that was almost too easy.

If it was too easy, try 5 W next time :)

Congrats Jim, way to go... and can you imagine the same kinda thrill with the same one call answer... at 5 watts, or 1 watt.... ?? They answer those calls too. --... ...-- Dale - WC7S in Wy > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Date: Fri, 14 Oct 2011 18:27:30 -0700 > CC: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] T32C on 20 SSB > > If it was too easy, try 5 W next time :) > > 73, > Wayne > N6KR > > On Oct 14, 2011, at 6:22 PM, Jim Sheldon wrote: > > > Good grief, that was almost TOO EASY with the KPA500 on line! And here I was proud of working them on 80m SSB around 0700z this past
Sunday morning with 100W and my low (22ft high) doublet. It took a couple of calls but I'm in the log. I think that is my best DX on 80m ever, not that I ever really tried before. Let me say that the addition of the P3 makes working split a breeze. There is just something about seeing the VFO B marker turn RED that assures me that I'm not transmitting on the DX. 73, de Nate N0NB >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. And you should be proud, Nate, that is a good accomplishment. Learning how, and doing.. is a good thing. Then doing it is best. Congratulations. Before this past week I've never operated anything but SSB. But with the
memories and decoding capabilities of the K3, plus being able to find the holes in the pileups with the P3, I've got T32C on 19 out of the 21 slots my antenna is capable of. This setup makes it so easy. 73, Dennis NJ6G On 10/14/2011 8:48 PM, Dale Putnam wrote: > And you should be proud, Nate, that is a good accomplishment. Congrats. I have not caught them on 160 ssb or 80 ssb or rtty on those
bands. Hey you are not a real dxer until you xmit all over the DX! I have done it. It is easy to do. Life goes on funny enough. You can work lots of DX with 100w it takes more skill than keying up the big amp. Have fun! I worked on 10m SSB with 1 watt the other night. It's amazing what you can do when the bands are open. I got them on 20m and 17m with K3/10 and vertical. Not pure 5 W really, but
this is one of the hardest locations for QSO from here. 73, Val LZ1VB > If it was too easy, try 5 W next time :) > > 73, > Wayne > N6KR > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Not SSB, but I did work them on three bands CW with a K3/10 and random
wire . Got them all three times with just a couple of calls from here on the east coast. I suspect they have some really ideal beach-side antenna setups. And somebody has turned the propagation switch on. 73, Drew AF2Z On Fri, 14 Oct 2011 20:22:55 -0500, Jim - W0EB wrote: >Good grief, that was almost TOO EASY with the KPA500 on line! Don't forget that both ends of the QSO have very good receivers ;o) 73, Tom Amateur Radio Operator N5GE ARRL Lifetime Member QCWA Lifetime Member On Sat, 15 Oct 2011 08:22:10 -0400, drewko <[hidden email]> wrote: >Not SSB, but I did work them on three bands CW with a K3/10 and random >wire . I think you will find that the majority of them are using FT450's! Yaesu
lent the group ten of them after the shipping container didn't arrive due to a ship breakdown. There may have been other rigs hand carried by other members of the party I admit. 73 Stephen G4SJP On Saturday, 15 October 2011, <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Don't forget that both ends of the QSO have very good receivers ;o) > > 73, > Tom > Amateur Radio Operator N5GE > ARRL Lifetime Member > QCWA Lifetime Member > > > On Sat, 15 Oct 2011 08:22:10 -0400, drewko <[hidden email]> wrote: > >>Not SSB, but I did work them on three bands CW with a K3/10 and random >>wire .
