Testing Nabble link from Keith Trinity WE6R

ab2tc
Hello all,

This is a test using the link to Nabble posted on the reflector by WE6R on July 27 (the link was in the subject header). The link works and I could log in with my usual credentials. This is posted using the "New topic" link on the "topics" page. But I do not see any posts there more recent than early July. Refreshing the page did not make any difference.

Does anybody know what is really going on with Nabble and ways to recover from whatever changes they have made? The old link which is still on Elecraft's web site no longer works at all. I have been using Nabble for years to *post* messages to the reflector, but prefer to read them using marc.info. Nabble was a very convenient way to respond to posts.

Good question. I'm surprised there wasn't more complaints but maybe not too many use Nabble. I have used it for a long time and prefer Nabble over the reflector.

Had to do quite a hunt to actually get here again.. .and notice there is virtually nothing left..
Where do people go for Elecraft info / exchanges / help etc?

thanks  73 John VE3NFK

(not sure when it disappeared as I don't check daily; but when it didn't work I had to search on nabble.com to find elecraft - with a new url )

Hi John,

Well, I am glad to see that there is *some* life here, but I do not think that is the Nabble site we were using before. It seems to be an old, abandoned branch visited by just a few stragglers stumbling across it, like you and me. I am also surprised there isn't more complaints about the old URL no longer working.  Elecraft is still available at elecraft.com but the nabble link there is no longer working and none of the other options seem to offer the ability to send posts as far as I can tell.

I forgot to mention that what we post here does *not* appear on the reflector as it should have been had it been the good old nabble site. Here is the latest on the reflector as viewed via marc.info:

[posting this as a reply on the new URL Nabble]

I've been reading the Elecraft forum exclusively at Nabble since my first Elecraft kit in 2010.  I don't want to get forum traffic in emails and I personally find using the mail-archive.com reflector to be very clumsy.

So, wondering if however it is that forum traffic is pushed out to Nabble (I have no idea how that works) has not been updated to the new URL.

<fingers crossed />

Hi Bruce (and all),

I am with you all the way. I am also adamantly opposed to using E-mail for forum traffic. I have used Nabble almost as long as you and the loss of it is huge to me. I don't know if the action needed to reestablish the link between the reflector and the new Nabble URL is by Elecraft or somebody at Nabble, but it is urgently needed. Currently the new Nabble URL (this one) is for all practical purposes useless (except, of course, to complain that it is indeed useless). My fingers are crossed, too.

This morning they (nabble)  "thought" it was working.
I have posted to their support page that it isn't bringing things over from qth.net.

Hi Keith,

I have been in direct E-mail contact with Eric Swartz at Elecraft. He seemed to think that it *is* working, too. They did correct the URL on their web site in the list of "Community list servers".  From what you are saying, it seems that the action needed now is from the Nabble side. Crossing my fingers still.

Hi Knut;
It is not going to work like before!
The new downsizing will only have the OLD archived messages.
Nothing new will be imported from qth.net elecraft messages!

You can log in to nabble and post, but that will not post back to qth.net.
There are some other archive pages that might be useful here;
