The Eagle has landed!

Dave Perry N4QS
Friends attending the Ten Tec hamfest this weekend sent me photos of the new Ten Tec Eagle transceiver.  Looks very much like a K3.  They have already set up a group for the rig on Yahoo where you can see a photo:

The new brochure makes it sound even more like a K3.

Sorry my friend but it looks nothing like a K3.

It more closely resembles a Argonaut V (516) or them 6n2 rigs TT
discontinued recently.

I have not seen the flyer thus cannot comment about that.

I had the opportunity to make one cw qso with the Eagle while at the TT
hamfest. It's very much like the Argo V however it has various roofing
filters available for the 9 Mhz first IF. Claimed BDR was very high. I was
able to hear it's little relay noise above the racket of 50 people and that
just isn't acceptable. It has no IF output. Cost is about $1700. NB is an
option. I think it compares to the Kenwood TS-590 soon to be released
however the 590 does have band buttons/stacking register etc.
I'm not sure where the market is for these but overall, if you prefer TenTec
over Kenwood then this might be your best bet.

Steve
