I'm sure I'm not the only one who has pressed V>M by mistake rather than
M>V, or turned VFO A instead of B when in the Config menu. How about a "Do you want to update this setting Y/N?" option? Barry,
I would rather have a "Undo the last change made" capability rather than slowing down every change you make intentionally with such a confirmation. 73, Bob W5OV -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Barry Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2010 11:57 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] Thought for possible feature - Do you want to update this setting Y/N? My vote would be a resounding "no". That would practically double the nuisance factor of an already deep and broad menu system. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that was suggested here some time ago and Elecraft said that it would take an excessive amount of internal memory resources to make that a generally functional feature. 73, Dave AB7E On 10/23/2010 12:08 PM, Bob Naumann wrote: > Barry, > > I would rather have a "Undo the last change made" capability rather than > slowing down every change you make intentionally with such a confirmation. > > 73, > > Bob W5OV > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [hidden email] > [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Barry > Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2010 11:57 AM > To: [hidden email] > Subject: [Elecraft] Thought for possible feature - Do you want to update > this setting Y/N? > > I'm sure I'm not the only one who has pressed V>M by mistake rather than > M>V, or turned VFO A instead of B when in the Config menu. > How about a "Do you want to update this setting Y/N?" option? > Barry W2UP > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Make that a triple no.
And let me point out that it really wouldn't help with the problem. Haven't you noticed with things that always ask for a confirmation, that you get so used to hitting the confirmation every time that it becomes automatic? And you only realize after hitting the fatal "Yes" that you just deleted something you wanted to keep? My DVD player has TWO levels of confirmation to delete a recording and my thumb just does them automatically. It has never prevented me from accidentally deleting something I wanted to keep. 73, Carl WS7L K3 #486 > -----Original Message----- > From: [hidden email] > [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Radio > Amateur N5GE > On Sat, 23 Oct 2010 12:27:46 -0700, David Gilbert > <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Put me down for a double resounding NO! too. > > > > > > >My vote would be a resounding "no". Please note I suggested this as an OPTION, so one could maintain the status quo if so desired. However, as mentioned above, I like W5OV's suggestion better than mine - the ability to go back one level after a change is made (by mistake).

In any case, for a mistaken V>M just push M>V to cancel it. This also
works vice versa: push V>M to cancel a M>V. 73, Drew AF2Z On Sat, 23 Oct 2010 16:32:19 -0700 (PDT), you wrote: > >Please note I suggested this as an OPTION, so one could maintain the status >quo if so desired. Let's end this thread.
In general, we ask that people do not keep posting pro or con votes on a thread as it tends to seriously increase the noise level on the reflector. 73, Eric Elecraft list modulator www.elecraft.com _..._ On Oct 23, 2010, at 6:01 PM, "George & Jan" <[hidden email]> wrote: > No! > George AI4VZ > > -----Original Message----- > How about a "Do you want to update this setting Y/N?" option? > Barry W2UP > > ______________________________________________________________ > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
