At the Boxboro Hamfest, Elecraft was demonstrating a P3/SVGA with the
latest Beta firmware. They were using a wireless keyboard which plugged into the USB connector on the back of the P3 -- it was working flawlessly (including macros that allowed the up/down arrows to change the VFO A frequency in 10Hz steps). I asked Eric what keyboard he was using at the show and he confirmed it was a Logitech K360, which sells for about $30 including the tiny USB receiver. In my shack, at least, wires == problems, clutter and RFI. So anything wireless is a blessing. This is probably obvious to everyone, but I wanted to share that combination as something known to work. 73, Bob,WB4SON ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Have the same keyboard AND mouse combo here. Works well and like the lack of
clutter. Helps to keep the wireless wireless. 73, Mike WA5POK -------------------------------------------------- From: "Bob" <[hidden email]> Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 1:15 PM To: <[hidden email]> Subject: [Elecraft] Use of wireless keyboard with P3/SVGA > At the Boxboro Hamfest, Elecraft was demonstrating a P3/SVGA with the > latest Beta firmware. This is a nice device for ragchew work, but could be risky on a rare contact or contesting when the keyboard battery goes flat. However I see;
"Hassle-free design: Up to 3 years of power without battery changes plus simple setup with plug-and-play wireless receiver (Keyboard battery life may vary depends on usage)" So maybe its not that big a risk. I note the product info says; "Requires programming with Logitech's SetPoint software, free for download" Does it have to be "programmed" before use with the P3SVGA? Adrian ... vk4tux |

According to Eric, it plugs in and works. No programming required other
than setting up any Macros you want for the keyboard. Frankly I have lost more than one or two DX contacts when RF has gotten into my keyboard and shut it down. Thank heavens for paddles at times like that. 73, Bob, WB4SON ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Bob, OK on the programming. I use it for RTTY. I hope to improve my type speed, however as you go typing is not the best RTTY print on the RX machine when sent by me.
If there was a way to have a programmable character entry buffer which released at 45bps, once you have entered eg; 10 characters, or whatever you wish maybe also using bt to fill spaces etc, it may improve sent print quality. I use Vox send in svga config. Of course if you are a good typer then you have no issue. I have a few macro's and they are handy, but to have a decent qso, the custom for qso keyboard entry is needed. Having macro qso's on psk31 bored me to tears years ago, often the other station will not type , but just send macro's incl 73. Adrian ... vk4tux |

I also use the Logitech 360, Bob, and have had perfect results. I was not pointed to that model by anyone, just saw it in the local big box store and brought it home. My P3 loves it too!
