I sold my K1, K2 and TS-570D to buy an Elecraft K3, but it looks like I
won't have one in the near future? I haven't looked at the Elecraft Site for some time now, but it looks like they are having problems producing the K3 in a timely manner. I only have my KX1 left to play outside qrp, but I do need a full portable HF rig too. How does the Yaesu FT-450AT compare to the K3? Also, can the K3 operate with a SCS Pactor Modem for HF WL2K? 73, Ed,WA3WSJ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Ed, I'd guess that the FT-450 is more like a TS-450 than a K3. The FT-450 seems to be targeted at newbie and casual HF users rather than being an "elite" class rig, like the K3 is purported to be. I'd wait for the K3, if I were you, but Yaesu is coming out with another new rig, the FT-950, which might be more what you're looking for, but it's not out yet, either. Given the problems with the FTDX9000 series and mediocre performance of the FT-2000, I'd be cautious before buying a Vertex/Standard product right now, however. Eric and Wayne revised the shipping date for K3s back to August 31, the last I heard, so if that date holds up, you really don't have that long to wait. It might be better to wait than end up with a rig you're not happy with. 73, Scott, N9AA Edward R.
