Bill,
The IOC chip is located in its socket near the center of the K2 RF Board. It is the Input/Output Controller. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > FWK2MCIO K2 MCU F/W Upgrade to 2.04; K2 IOC Upgrade to 1.09 > (IOC Req'd for this upgr.) > > $44.00 > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > In regard to the above firmware upgrade offering for the K2, what > is meant > by IOC? > > Bill K3UJ > _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Don, What threw me was the advisement that "(IOC Req'd for this upgr.)" Wouldn't IOC be a part of EVERY functioning K2? I don't see why they saw fit to include that requirement for the upgrade. Bill,
The IOC upgrade was not required with previous microprocessor level changes, but starting with uP revision 2.04 (which adds the K60XV support), the relay control sequence changed (this has nothing to do with the KIO2), and the IOC had to be changed as well. It just so happens that the 2.04 firmware also supports the Keying Waveshape change. Soooo... if you need the 2.04 firmware, you will also need the IOC - but Elecraft packages them together, so no concerns about ordering - but you do have to know that it must be changed. I guess that is the reason for the note. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Don, > > What threw me was the advisement that "(IOC Req'd for this upgr.)" > Wouldn't IOC be a part of EVERY functioning K2?
