From time to time someone mentions the "new" heat sink back panel for
the K2. I haven't seen a picture of it on the web site or item listed in Options. I've suggested that Elecraft make a PSK friendly back panel - with holes for Line In/Out or one hole for a 5 pin DIN plug to handle those I/O. Wonder if this new back panel is it. If there is a new back panel, how is it different from the previous model and how much does it cost? Hi
The new back panel is a silkscreened and drilled heatsink panel that has the transverter connector holes. When installing the 60 meter/transverter option you can install this panel to replace your old panel. You can drill your old heatsink panel if you want but this replacement makes it easier and it looks better. The original holes on the upper rear panel that are marked for the transverter are not used because of the problem of connecting the board to the upper connectors. The old transverter holes can be used for any other purpose. Like a battery charger, solar panel, PSK I/O connector or whatever. Just install a connector of your choice and make the internal connections. A think the new heatsink panel is $19 Don Brown KD5NDB ----- Original Message ----- From: "designer" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Saturday, May 07, 2005 11:44 AM Subject: [Elecraft] What is this new back panel > From time to time someone mentions the "new" heat sink back panel for > the K2.
