Hello everyone,
Someone recently wondered about the absence of comments on the list about other Elecraft rigs besides the K3. Well, one of them, my K2/100, #5615 is happily operating very well and still flawless as far as I'm concered for my ham radio needs. Yes, there are a few of us reading the list who are not K3 users! 73 to all, Steve Banks K0PQ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I frequently take my K2 "out for a walk" to keep all the electrons
exercised. Actually, owning the K3 just reinforces my perception of how good the K2 is; for the most part the K2 holds its own with the K3 except at the times where the K3's superior front-end performance makes the difference. 73, Doug W6JD K2/100 #1626 K3/100 #23 -------------- Original message -------------- From: "STEPHEN W BANKS" <[hidden email]> > Hello everyone, > > Someone recently wondered about the absence of comments on the list about other > Elecraft rigs besides the K3. > > Well, one of them, my K2/100, #5615 is happily operating very well and still > flawless as far as I'm concered for my ham radio needs. > > Yes, there are a few of us reading the list who are not K3 users! > > 73 to all, > > Steve Banks > K0PQ > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr. I filter my incoming mail from the reflector into K1, K2, K3, and All
Other folders, based upon the presence of "K1", "K2", or "K3" in the Subject field. Since June 1 of this year, these are the counts in each folder: K1: 78 K2: 400 K3: 3461 Other: 2067 Of course, some/most of the "Other" really belong in one of the Kn folders, but that wasn't indicated in the Subject. I'd attribute this mix to two things: The K3 is the newest (how many of those messages were just delivery date speculation?) and it's the most complicated. 73 Dave KQ3T _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. K2 S/N 0539 is doing very well. I use it everyday and have put very few
modifications into it. I've done some dumb things with it which have caused me to replace the finals a few times and the driver once. I've got a small fortune in it with all but the 60m option in place (notice I did not say K2/100, that's not a K2). It is the second most expensive item in my shack, second only to my TS-850S/AT which competes very aggressively with the K2 on receive. A K3? Not in my future, way too much money for casual operating. I'm glad Elecraft has found a couple of thousand hams willing to part with a major chunk of change for a K3, but I'm priced out of the market. I hope they continue their great success. Oh, and the Elecraft amplifiers are also out of the question pricewise, too.
