XFIL

William Denny
Hello all,
I recently bought an Elecraft K2 from ebay.
It will very well with one exception.  The first two XFIL setting work
well but the third and fourth XFIL settings require an adjustment in
the receive frequency to copy the signal.

Where should I start to discover the nature of this problem.

Respectfully,

Marshall Denny

Sounds like the PO did no get the bfo and filter
alignment correct. No wonder they sold the rig.

You should do a complete alignment, if just to
familiarize yourself with it.
Its in the manual, and get the spectrogram software
also, makes it easy to align things.

Enjoy!

Marshall,

Sadly, that is a common situation, although it is not really a problem
since the filters and BFOs on the K2 can easily be modified.  You need
to do a filter alignment.

While you are in the process of doing that, you may as well go full bore
and do the dial calibration part too.  For more detailed information
than is in the K2 manual, check my website www.qrpradio.com article
about K2 Dial Calibration - the filter alignment is part of that process
and is covered in step 3.
