XV50 TRANSVERTER - L17

G4BUE
Two questions about the XV50 transverter, please?

1. The Alignment and Test on Page 25 of the Owner's Manual says the
core of L17 (along with L1, L10 and L11) should be removed and
discarded as it will not be used.

On the following page is a table telling you how to preset the slugs
in the inductors for each transverter.  For the XV50 it says the slug
in L17 should be set two turns down from the top.

What page is correct, please?

2.  The slug in L13 is cracked and doesn't turn.  Any tips on how to
remove it without damaging the inductor?

If the answer to question 1 is page 25, then I can use the slug from
L17 to replace the  broken one in L13, otherwise I assume I can use
the slug from L1 which appears to be the same size?

Thanks for any help and advice.

K2/100 on VU4

Frank DL4KQ-2
Hi all,

I just resturned  yesterday from VU4 where we have been using (once again)
several K2/100`s during the operations.
It is always impressing how good these little rigs work.

One fully loaded K2 (+ps, small amp) has been presented to a mainland VU ham
(VU3RSB) so that he can go ahead now with his planned Indian IOTA AS-New
activations.
Another fully loaded K2 + KPA100/KAT100 + ps + Heil headset + SIGMA 5 + 40 m
dipole and so on has been presented by Doug, N6TQS, and me to the
Polytechnic College at Pt. Blair (to YL Molly, VU3VPX and YL Lizzy, VU3VPY
after we found out that now support to them showed up .....
The station has been set up by me on april 04.

The next signals you will hear from VU4 will be K2 signals !

RE: XV50 TRANSVERTER - L17

This issue was handled off-line. So, for any lurkers who may have the same
question:

1) The tuning slug should be left in L17 on all transverters.

2) If, during alignment, it is found that maximum output is obtained with
the slug out of the top of the coil, remove the slug completely.
