I'm searching for an FT-243 crystal holder,
the type used on DX-40's, Eico 723's and a million other 60's transmitters. I've done a bit of searching on the internet but no luck. Ken,
If you cannot find a real crystal socket, you could use an octal tube socket which may be a bit easier to find. Should you decide to go the octal socket route, I can likely dig one out of my 'old stuff' junkbox - just send me your address. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > From: [hidden email] > [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of Ken Kaplan > Sent: Sunday, March 05, 2006 10:12 PM > To: [hidden email] > Subject: [Elecraft] Xtal Socket - a bit off topic > > > I'm searching for an FT-243 crystal holder, > the type used on DX-40's, Eico 723's and a > million other 60's transmitters. > > I've done a bit of searching on the internet > but no luck. > > Please contact off list: [hidden email] > > tnx & 73 > Ken WB2ART > www.wb2art.com > www.unpcbs.com > > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr. If you use an octal socket, as Don suggests, you can plug in two crystals,
and switch between them - an old boatanchor trick. 73, ed - k9ew On 3/5/06, Ken Kaplan <[hidden email]> wrote: > > I'm searching for an FT-243 crystal holder, > the type used on DX-40's, Eico 723's and a > million other 60's transmitters. And if you take two FT-243 xtals and tape them upside down and back to back
you can electrically switch between two crystals at a time and flip them over mechanically for a total of 4 frequencies (if there is headroom for the pins that will be sticking above the top of the crystal that is plugged in). Us old farts are full of useful Hints and Kinks! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed - K9EW" <[hidden email]> To: "Ken Kaplan" <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Sunday, March 05, 2006 11:45 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Xtal Socket - a bit off topic > If you use an octal socket, as Don suggests, you can plug in two crystals, > and switch between them - an old boatanchor trick. > > 73, > ed - k9ew > > > On 3/5/06, Ken Kaplan <[hidden email]> wrote: >> >> I'm searching for an FT-243 crystal holder, >> the type used on DX-40's, Eico 723's and a >> million other 60's transmitters. >> >> I've done a bit of searching on the internet >> but no luck. >> >> Please contact off list: [hidden email] >> >> tnx & 73 >> Ken WB2ART >> www.wb2art.com >> www.unpcbs.com >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Elecraft mailing list >> Post to: [hidden email] >> You must be a subscriber to post to the list. >> Subscriber Info (Addr.
