Does anyone sell a cable or have the information for connecting a CM500 to a K3? I think an adapter of some sort is in order here. I was thinking using a adapter to 1/4 inch for the headphone part....but I need to make a pig tail for the mike. Lee - K0WA In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. The below is confusing information! The CM500 mike and headphone plugs as
they are, will fit into the back of the K3. If you want to use the K3's front connectors, you need to cut wires and do some soldering to use the front panel MIC connector and the front panel PHONES connector. My guess would be that everybody just plugs into the K3's rear connectors, thus eliminating the bias battery box. Check your manual to find out how to apply bias via the K3. A good amount of common sense would be helpful here!!! 73, Tom - W4BQF Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Yamaha CM500 No adapter is required - plugs fit as they are! :-) On Wednesday, Dec 4, 2013, at Wednesday, 1:10 PM, Lee Buller wrote: > > > Does anyone sell a cable or have the information for connecting a CM500 to a K3? No need to cut wires for the front ... Get a Heil AD-1K adapter for the mic/PTT and use the generic 1/4" TRS male to 3.5mm TRS female adapter that comes with the CM-500 for the headphones. 73, ... I had an old red heil adapter (originally for kenwood as it predates the k3) that does not
pick up the bias for the cm500. It does work with a heil hc4 dynamic mic. So beware of possible issues if you go the heil adapter route. (It easier to just make your own anyway). Mark. But why unplug the CM500 at all, if you have a different mic that plugs
into the front panel jack, just leave the CM500 plugged into the rear and the K3 MIC SEL menu will switch from the front mic to the back mic, no need for plugging and unplugging - unless you have multiple mics that use the rear panel jacks. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/4/2013 4:53 PM, Nate Bargmann wrote: > * On 2013 04 Dec 15:32 -0600, Lee Buller wrote: >> >> >> Oh....I forgot about the back. Because it keeps the tangle of wires to a minimum given the way I have things laid out. Also, I usually only use the CM-500 mic for the Kansas QSO Party in August each year. Otherwise I am using an MC-60 desk mic. For 363 days it would be in the way! ;-) When not in use the headphones are laid off to the side and the wire is coiled up with them. Forunately, my hearing is still good enough that I don't need them often as a pair of external speakers work well for me although I do prefer the 'phones when operating CW. 73, de Nate >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. There's no need to plug and unplug -- simply assign the "SPKR + PHONES" toggle to one of the PF keys.
