how do these moduler kits work?

Shaun Oliver
I'm curious, I've never had to deal with moduler kits before. waht's
involved in putting them together? the most I've had to fiddle about
with were solderless kits that required springs or screws to fit
components together. for the teaching of the basics of electronics of
course. I'm just curious.

It's screwdrivers, decent eyesight and the ability to follow a well-written
manual. Take a look at
http://www.elecraft.com/K2_Manual_Download_Page.htm#K3 for the manuals and
judge for yourself.

I suggest that only poor eyesight or shaky / unsteady hands would stop you
assembling a K3. Of course it's all in English - so someone without
reasonable English may have a problem.

There may well be a K3 owner in your area of Oz who can help if needed.

Yes, springs and screws.  I doubt you will learn anything about
electronics by assembling this kit unless you go off to the side
with the user manual and do some reading.  What you'll learn
from this kit with the assembly manual would be how to get this
row of pins into that socket without bending or otherwise making
a mess of things.  But there will be some tuning and aligning to
keep it all interesting.  You'll be proud you did!
