Tom,
Is one end of the white plastic free to move upward? If so, you do not have the clear plastic sheet. That 'plastic sheet' can be as simple as a piece of clear tape used to hold the end of the white plastic in place during packing and shipping. If it is not present, just install the backlight and don't worry about it. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > good eve, In the process of installing the back light for my K1 # > 1848, The instructions stated to remove the clear plastic that > covers the front of the back light. Hi Tom:
>In the process of installing the back light for my K1 # 1848, The >instructions stated to remove the clear plastic that covers the >front of the back light. I don't see this clear plastic sheet? I just happen to have fifty (50) of the future K1 backlights on my desk right now, to be cut into two pieces for K1 backlights. Looking at this supply, it appears that they no longer have the clear plastic cover over the opaque plastic cover on the front of the backlight. So I guess that particular part of the instructions is no longer applicable. If it ain't there... don't sweat it. 73, Tom Hammond N0SS _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I've just installed a backlight kit - there wasn't a clear plastic film
on the backlight either... The K1 now looks really good, well worth modifying. I used the 6 mA option and the light level is just right for me. Beware the default shipping charge to the UK for small parts, such as this kit, can exceed the cost of the parts. The charge quoted by Lisa was $7.00 instead of the $22.00 on the web order page (use the order form and choose Int'l Air Parcel Post, add the quoted price in the comments box). It's best to obtain a quote for the shipping costs of small part orders... 73 Dave, G4AON K1 #1154 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
