Hi,
There is only VAT to pay, no import duty. You would still pay the VAT anyway, even if buying from a UK dealer. Buying direct from the US is very easy, many hundreds or even thousands of us have done this. Ordering directly from the States is less expensive. Compare the prices
of http://www.qrp-project.de/ with Elecraft's. Don't forget to adjust for VAT (MwSt) and "import tax" (in DL the same as MwSt). An european dealer must, AFAIK, due to EU regulations, offer a longer Gewährleistung (~ warranty) than Elecraft and carry all the extra cost and risk this involves. vy 73 de toby -- DD5FZ, 4N6FZ (ex dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2 #885, K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #??? The Euro and Pounds Sterling are now in a very favorable position re the
U.S. dollar. Now is the time to order goods direct from USA. You pay the VAT irregardless. There was a news item here, a day ago, about how many British accents are heard on the streets of New York with all the current British visitors due to economical dollar re European currencies. I am trying to keep out of the rubbish here but must say I totally agree
with you Simon. This shows a real lack of understanding of Elecraft and the way it so successfully works. Carry on guys. I don't want a manual now, I don't want a dealer, I don't want solder, I don't want any of the whingeing. I am in the first batch and just contented to wait for them to get it right. Haven't a clue about HRT, Low Power, seeing things on displays. Just want the best DXing and contesting radio currently available. Not only that I am 100% happy to always add my name and callsign to the end of my postings. Finally, why not get on the band and work something rather continuously posting superfluous messages here!!!! It was also discussed in a thread a couple of months back (see the archives.) When Ten-Tec decided to authorize a UK dealer, it stopped accepting direct orders from the UK. Some of the products in the Ten-Tec line are not available from the UK dealer, and the prices of those that are, are considerably more expensive than they would be if ordered direct from the USA. We were reassured by Eric that Elecraft has no intention of appointing a dealer in the UK or anywhere else. There is no difficulty at all in ordering direct from the USA. Shipping just takes a bit longer, and you have to pay VAT to the postman on delivery. -- Julian, G4ILO K2 s/n: 392 K3 s/n: ??? One minor correction to Julian's posting.
What we have said in the past and still holds true, is that we will always offer direct sales from the factory to the UK and Europe. We have not ruled out the possibility in the future that we will authorize dealers in the UK and elsewhere for the K3, but we are not planning so at the moment. If it happens, it will be in addition to direct sales. (And I would expect that the dealer prices would be higher than the direct prices for the reasons stated by Simon, Toby and Julian.) 73, Eric WA6HHQ Elecraft Julian G4ILO wrote: > On 8/1/07, elan paim <[hidden email]> wrote: > >> why there is no Dealer in the UK [let say it is any where ] >> Elecraft i think do not like to have any Dealer ? to order it from the US it will cost much >> with the vat tex etc ,so please elecraft do something . >> g0uut/dl9fcc >> > > Simon and Toby have given the reasons.
