Re: k3 weekly update

Mark Bayern
Copied from the 9/18 K3 update, written by Eric:

"Wayne and I discussed the schedule and our open issues today. While
we both felt that we may start shipping in two weeks, we agreed we
should add a week to that and conservatively set the official K3 first
ship date for Monday Oct 8th."

...so the good news is that there have been no further updates.

Re: k3 weekly update

Am I the only one who finds the "jive translation" less than funny?  Can
we please have no more of this?   This reflector is a wonderful place to
learn about Elecraft products and get help when needed.  There are
adequate other venues for denigrating humor.  This reflector is not one
of those places.

Or am I just an old fuddy-duddy?

Some of you need to lighten up, it was ONE post.  There is way too
much whining about the K3 on the reflector.  Many need to learn some
patience and just chill.  The K3 will get here when it gets here.  If
someone can't make fun of the situation every once in a while, what
the heck?  You guys sure can put up with the whining.

.. and that is all I have to say about that.  I will return you to
your whining and questions about things already answered in the
archives and in the FAQ.

Seeing how many of you assume I am a racist for translating some of
Eric's last announcement into Jive, let me also offer up a Swedish
Chef translation  Hopefully, this will prove that I make fun of
everyone equally and, therefore, can no way be a racist.

Swedish Chef:
"Veyne-a und I deescoossed zee schedoole-a und oooor oopee issooes
tudey. Vheele-a ve-a but felt thet ve-a mey stert sheepping in tvu
veeks, ve-a egreed ve-a shuoold edd a veek tu thet und cunserfeteefely
set zee ooffffeeciel K3 furst sheep dete-a fur Mundey Ooct 8t. Bork
Bork Bork!"

Note to Eric and Wayne, no need to scold me.. I won't do anything like
this again.  *grin*  Meanwhile, I suggest to several people, that they
go out and rent Airplane - The Movie, and see if June Cleaver should
also be called a racist for speaking Jive.

Heretic that I am....I'm thrilled that you're placing the priority on building
the stuff...who knows, maybe you're doing mine.  Right about now, the most
appropriate update would be that the units are shipping.

Hmmmm, guess the UPS web site doesn't know about the holiday...maybe we should
tell them?

I told their calculator I wanted to ship a package from Aptos to Baltimore on
October 8, 2007.  The holiday-neutral robot said:

UPS Next Day Air Early A.M. 8:00 A.M.
Tuesday
October 9, 2007 1
UPS Next Day Air 10:30 A.M.
Tuesday

UPS Next Day Air Saver 3:00 P.M.
Tuesday
October 9, 2007 1
UPS 2nd Day Air A.M. 10:30 A.M.
Wednesday
October 10, 2007 2
UPS 2nd Day Air By End of Day
Wednesday

UPS 3 Day Select By End of Day
Thursday
October 11, 2007 3
UPS Ground By End of Day

You are correct... My postal gal just mentioned Oct 8th was a holiday, as she was dropping off the mail.

But a quick check of 'observed' holidays at UPS, confirmed that they will do pickup and deliveries on the 8th...

I think several of us need to lighten up a bit.  If you see something
you don't like you can either make liberal use of your Delete Key or
change to a different reflector.  IMHO, I think too many of us get
offended too fast; and maybe we need to develop thicker skins, perhaps.

Nowhere in the Constitution are you guaranteed the right to not be offended.

Nor do we have any right or priveledge to *be* offensive!  This
reflector (like the rest of ham radio) is a multi-cultural,
multi-national, and multi-racial group, so please "play nice".  Social
faux pas may be excusable, but should not be encouraged nor amplified IMHO.

PLEASE DO NOT POLICE THE LIST OR CRITICIZE POSTINGS

Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ

And guys, please do NOT criticize the postings of others here. Feel free
to email the moderator (me) and I'll jump in when I feel it is
necessary. The volume of comments following a posting are much more
harmful than any posting I've seen here lately.

Also, We've seen a lot of 'One Liner' comments lately. Please resist the
urge to comment on every posting with 'me too' or 'I disagree' or other
1 liner non-substantive comments. They only make the noise level
intolerable for those reading the list.

Back to work! :-)

Of course things could go too far....perhaps we should never use the term OM,
since some might view it as age-related discrimination.  It would appear that
some folks have stopped using such antiquated sexist terms like XYL.

And just to confuse the issue(which shouldn't be one), in many areas "Jive Talk"
is racially neutral...like baggy pants, etc....various colors of folks use the
language...and so to poke fun at the language pattern is not racial.

Whatever happened to free speech? There are all sorts of things that
somebody will find offensive. It's a strange world we live in where we
have the freedom to call the government a bunch of crooks and idiots,
but not to make a parody of some ethnic group, not even in a context
that made it clear it was supposed to be humorous. Somebody should get
this Jive Translator site shut down, it is clearly a threat to our
civilized society.
