mini modules

Dennis Vavra
Hey Elecrafters, With respect to the K2, which elecraft mini module would be the best asset for alignment or trouble-
shooting? I realize each piece does a specific job, but
I am really new to kit building. Plus I want something else to
practice my soldering on besides the K2 itself.Hi! Hi!

I have the noise generator, dummy load and signal generator. All are
extremely useful and I really suggest having them. Of course, none of
them (except a dummy load) are needed when building the kit, but they
sure make it a lot easier.

Dennis,

If you do not have a good dummy load, I suggest the DL1 as a first priority.
Follow that with the N-Gen to use when aligning your filters using
Spectrogram, and then the XG1 or XG2 to give you a good reference point for
setting the S-9 point on your S-meter.  If you are into SSB and want to be
certain you are generating a clean signal, the 2T-Gen is a nice addition to
your toolkit.  And lastly, if you have a power meter of any type, the CP1
can be built as a 20 or 30 dB coupler.

After you get operaional, the W1 wattmeter and the BL1 can be helpful, but
that depends on your antenna situation.

If you do any experimenting at all, you may find the AT1 a valuable asset to
your toolbox.

So choose according to your needs.  Every hamshack need some kind of
measuring equipment IMHO, and the Elecraft mini-kits are a good start on
providing tools for your workbench.
