Hi guys,
I've got my new k3 hooked to the laptop using the KUSB and it worked FB first time but, I'm going to be out of usb ports. I've got 2 ports. I'd like to use the KUSB to the k3, a USB Winkey keyer and also a USB mouse.... and who knows what down the road. Has anyone used some kind of a usb hub to hook multiple devices to the laptop simultaneously? Thanks for any help. Gary, Not exactly ur situation but I have done it with a desktop. I do recommend a hub with its own power supply. They are priced inexpensively. Use a powered hub rather than non-powered.

I seem to recall the one I have at the shop is powered and has 12 USB ports.
Don't recall the brand or model but it works nice between multiple printers, scanners and external HD units. 73 Bob, K4TAX ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Chamalian" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]>; <[hidden email]> Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:41 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] multi port usb hub and k3 KUSB > Use a powered hub rather than non-powered. > > Pete, W1RM > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Phil Kane [mailto:[hidden email]] > Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:59 PM > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] multi port usb hub and k3 KUSB > > On 4/20/2010 3:26 PM, Gary Slagel wrote: > >> Has anyone used some kind of a usb hub to hook multiple devices >> to the laptop simultaneously? > > I have two such "generic" hubs hooked up to my laptop and they > work perfectly with Win XP. > > -- 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane > Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hello Garry,
I have an 8-port hub running on this XP machine, and a 4-port on a laptop with XP. Have had no issues.. 73! Some have had problems with non-powered hubs if other devices on the
hub are busy and active at the same time. Apparently it doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen for some. Yes...both of them are powered from the master UPS. -- 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I have my microHam (x2) and KUSB all on a separate 7 port hub (and other gear on that and on an identical second 7 port hub too).

Thanks for the responses.
I didn't realize these things were so common place and cheap and worked so well. I've got a powered hub coming from Amazon as well as a usb keyboard because I discovered my laptop had no provision for a regular external keyboard! Not wishing to prolong this thread further, but I think you'll find that 'regular keyboard' nowdays means USB !
