I had written about my husband's new problem of no longer receiving PSK
signals, and we had thought it was the FLdigi setup. This morning I removed the computer hookups, removed the KXPA100 via the menu following Matt's suggestion, got the latest firmware, and tried to receive SSB, but nothing is heard. So evidently we are not receiving amateur radio signals of any kind at present. With the audio all the way up I can barely detect a commercial radio station. Does anyone have any clues what might be going on? Julie,
I'd physically disconnect the KXPA100 so you have only a KX3 to deal with -- just the KX3 and a mic and an antenna for SSB. If the problem persists go into the menu and look at every setting carefully. It could be something there. 73, Phil On 3/21/14, 8:03 AM, Julie Royster wrote: > I had written about my husband's new problem of no longer receiving PSK > signals, and we had thought it was the FLdigi setup. > This morning I removed the computer hookups, removed the KXPA100 via the > menu following Matt's suggestion, got the latest firmware, and tried to > receive SSB, but nothing is heard. Check RF gain settings. Press AF knob to see RF setting. Turn knob to show "0".

Julie,
Cables were added when the KXPA100 was added - check them (by substitution if possible). Connect the KX3 to a known good antenna connection and see if it 'plays'. If so, look for the problem in your KX3/KXPA100 antenna system - bad cable, recent ice storms created antenna connection problems, etc. If it does not 'play' on the same antenna that your K3 receives well with, then you can say it is a KX3 problem. It might be that something was inadvertently changed on the KX3, so check the gain settings and see if there might be something in the menu settings that look suspicious. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/21/2014 11:03 AM, Julie Royster wrote: > I had written about my husband's new problem of no longer receiving PSK > signals, and we had thought it was the FLdigi setup. > This morning I removed the computer hookups, removed the KXPA100 via the > menu following Matt's suggestion, got the latest firmware, and tried to > receive SSB, but nothing is heard. Thanks to Bill NR4C for this idea. I tried it and the result was to hear the commercial radio station loudly, but still no amateur radio.
Yup, the antenna is attached and its SWR is OK. 73, Julie KT4JR From: bill conkling [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Friday, March 21, 2014 11:40 AM To: Julie Royster Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] not receiving PSK or any SSB audio Check RF gain settings.
