Hello to all! Our KX3 that Larry uses for PSK has mysteriously developed an unstable ALC bar setting.
If we use the mic gain to set it for 4 bars while transmitting, then on the next transmission, without our having touched any controls, it goes back up to 6 or 7 bars. Any ideas what could have changed to make this happen? We must have inadvertently changed something but I don't know what. THANKS! Julie,
Check to be certain Compression is set to zero. If it was not set to zero, you should also re-adjust the audio level (either with the computer soundcard level settings or the KX3 Mic Gain). 73, Don W3FPR On 5/24/2014 9:28 AM, [hidden email] wrote: > Hello to all! And if you're using audio driven PSK, different tones can produce different levels.

They may not be using the DATA mode; many folks
use USB for PSK31 -- but then compression can be an issue. Come to think of it, it would be good to know just how they are set up -- which mode, which modem (e.g., SignaLink usb), etc. Phil w7ox On 5/24/14, 8:37 AM, Walter Underwood wrote: > Compression should not matter, because that is disabled in DATA A mode. > > I'd save the config, EEINIT, and reload.
