order form questions

Lane-2
Hi,

I'm trying to put a complete order form together for a base kit and
just really want to make sure I've not screwed anything up.

When I run through the order page on the website, one item (144OPT100)
is always added as free. I'm not real clear on exactly what that is.

Is my understanding correct in that:
        - a KXV3a is a must when ordering the P3?
        - I only need the KUSB for firmware updates via USB, otherwise, DB9
will work fine and is included?

Am I leaving anything out w/ these items (in the context of up and running)?

K3/100
P3-K
KAT3
For a K3/100
KXV3A
MH2

Thanks for a quick look over.

Re: order form questions

Dick Dievendorff
The KXV3a provides the IF tap needed for a panadapter (as well as Rx Antenna
and transverter I/O).

You only need a KUSB if you require a USB to Serial Adapter.  If your
computer has an RS-232 serial port (typically DB-9), you don't need a new
KUSB.  You will need a "straight thru" 9-pin serial cable to connect from
your PC to the 9-pin D shell serial connector on the back of the K3.
Details and pictures of the cables are in K3 Utility Help.  You can install
the K3 Utility and view its Help File ahead of time.

Your list is fine for "up and running".

I don't know what the free 144OPT100 is, either.   I put together a
tentative order with a K3/100, KAT3-F, KXV3A, MH2, P3-K and didn't see a
144OPT100.

Under the K144XV option there is a checkbox for K3/10 or K3/100. If you
check one of these boxes the system thinks that you are ordering the K144XV
and need the appropriate rear panel. The 144OPT100 is the rear panel for use
with the K144XV option on a 100 watt K3. Just don't check that box as you
don't seem to be ordering the internal 2 meter transverter.

Ugh, I knew I'd find a way to screw my order up. And though I already
put it in. Thanks for the info.
