The other day I tried to post a link to a picture I had taken of a
problem in my K3. I tried several times to post the link in a mail, and each time it bounced. I found that if I left the http:/ off the front of the link, it wouldn't bounce. So, I posted the link without a http, and asked those interested to just copy the link into their browser. I received emails saying that it would have been better if I'd posted the entire link, duh! I must be doing something wrong because I see other complete links posted to the list. I ask for your help if anyone has any idea of what I may be doing wrong. Enclose it in angle brackets with a prefix URL: and a space separating the brackets from the URL, like this: < URL:http://www.elecraft.com > This also prevents most email clients from breaking up the line as if it were text for long URLs. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Almost. No spaces, imho! <http://www.ThisIsAVeryLongURL.com/With/A/Long/Path/TheQuickBrown?FoxJumps&Over&TheLazy=Dog&WithoutSpacesThisShouldNotBreakLines> and not < URL:http://www.elecraft.com > vy 73 de toby _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. You can use http://xaddr.com to create a shortcut to the link. Then you can just post it like this: xaddr.com/2xr (which is a shortcut to the Elecraft website. Just type that into the address bar to try it. You wouldn't really need a shortcut to an address like elecraft.com, but I couldn't think of a really long one to use as an example.)

I've decided to go ahead with a second kit run of the Z10000 buffer
amplifier. The Z10000 provides an isolated (70 dB isolation at 4.9 MHz) IF sample when installed in a transceiver. It may also be used as an isolation amplifier with a transceiver with an IF output port. (General purpose, not limited to the K2.) The Z10000 will be available with several options, including one that permits it to be installed in the K2 and an electronics-only kit such as might be used with a K3, which has a built-in IF port. The Z10000 is not limited to the K2/K3 transceivers and has been used to provide a buffered IF sample with a variety of equipment employing IF frequencies in the range from 455 KHz to 73 MHz. The Z10000's primary purpose for K2/K3 owners is to use a Softrock as a panadapter via the Z10000 IF sample, and to provide additional isolation for the K3 IF output port. Note that even with 70 dB of isolation, it will almost certainly be necessary to offset the Softrock's frequency from the receiver's IF frequency to avoid interference. I've added pricing and options data at the 14 March 2008 entry at < URL:http://www.cliftonlaboratories.com/Updates.htm >. Availability is mid-April. I plan to order parts next week, and if you are interested in purchasing a Z10000, I would appreciate an E-mail indicating which options and quantities you are interested in. The correct format for enclosing URLs in email is with no URL: and with no spaces within the angle brackets. If you find you need the spaces it is probably to stop the sending email client from recognizing it as a URL (I think some strip the angle brackets in rich text and may forget to put them back in plain text). However, if mail is not getting through because it contains full URLs I would suspect the real problem is a spam filter somewhere down the line, as URLs in email are a spam indicator. -- David Woolley Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want. RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam, that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. (Spammers are either hijacking a machine for which they don't know the domain name or are using a hosting service outside its terms of service, so want to make it difficult to trace the hoster and get the site closed down.) Doing this with a dynamic IP address is probably even more likely to result in the mail being filtered. -- David Woolley "The Elecraft list is a forum for the discussion of topics related to Elecraft products and more general topics related ham radio" List Guidelines <http://www.elecraft.com/elecraft_list_guidelines.htm> _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
