There is a complete K-line offered for sale on ebay, for a ridiculously low price. I checked into it and it is a scam, so be wary.

Hi Bill,
What makes you think it's a scam? Reads OK, and there's nine days left to bid. Ad reads OK. If I was listing mine, I'd start the price very low also ... helps generate "interest", and keeps the listing fee low. I once sold a Bird, offering it for $10 initially. 73! I contacted W6AWO, he said his auction closed yesterday. This isn't his
auction, somebody's using fake info. 73, Dennis NJ6G On 2/17/2012 1:50 PM, William Evans wrote: > There is a complete K-line offered for sale on ebay, for a ridiculously low price. It doesn't look like a scam to me either. The buy-it-now price is $2500
bucks which means to me he needs cash quickly. 73, John N2HMM -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Ken G Kopp Sent: Friday, February 17, 2012 5:10 PM To: William Evans; [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] scam Hi Bill, What makes you think it's a scam? Definitely a scam.
The big image embedded at the end of the description with the "contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid" is a dead giveaway. That sort of demand is against ebay rules. The scammers put those words in an image file so that automated processes don't see them. That way, the auction will stay up a little longer. That auction will disappear within a few hours but the scammer is hoping a bunch of gullible guys will come along and send him $2,500 each before ebay shuts it down. The account is probably legitimate but doesn't belong to the scammer. He has undoubtedly hijacked a legit account -- probably due to an easy to guess password. 73, -Doug, W7KF http://www.w7kf.com On 02/17/2012 03:09 PM, Ken G Kopp wrote: > Hi Bill, > > What makes you think it's a scam? The conflicting opinions were .... well ..... amazing!
Was it a "scam" ? Some said it was. If it was, some were really fooled. So what was it? Scam or no? What is the final proof? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

eBay removed the auction which was posted to try to get your money by bidding or sending money directly to someone. It was a item too good to be true (or too cheap to be true in this case). He never had a K line. These people place these kind of false auctions trying to catch those less informed. Always be alert for email and Internet scams. "A fool and his money are soon parted."
