Allen, I have a Tokyo High Power amp, and their auto tuner, a combination
that works well with my K-3. Also purchased the equipment from Array Solutions in Texas. 73 de John, K8DHA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Another vote for Tokyo Hy-Power. I have an HL-1.5 KFX and I love it. Works
beautifully with the K3, and awesome support from Tokyo Hy-Power including personal e-mail relies from Nobuki Wakabayashi, the founder of the company. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of John Campbell, Jr. Sent: Friday, June 12, 2009 1:26 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] solid state hf amp Allen, I have a Tokyo High Power amp, and their auto tuner, a combination that works well with my K-3. I've used an Ameritron / MFJ ALS-600 for about 5 years and it works well. Also have the Ameritron QSK-5 pin diode switch, a nice combo that gives you full QSK. However, if you need customer service, forget it! BTW, I noticed in the latest QST that Array Solutions has a QSK box that "looks like" a QSK-5 but uses a high speed vacuum relay rather than pin diodes. If the relay is quiet I think it should be more robust than the diodes. I used a Gigavac relay and the relay noise is many many dB under the fan of my amp, works like a charm too! I vote for SPE 1K-FA linear. I am using it for almost 2 years. It interfaces
easily with my K3 (as well as IC-7000), weights only 20kg, has automatic programmable 4 antenna switch, built in automatic antenna tuner, supports SO2R all in one small box. The amp is absolutely transparent in operation. You just dial the freq in logger (or tune the radio) and transmitt 800-900 watt into the correct antenna. This combo (K3 and Expert 1K-FA) has been through couple of expeditions and proved to be pretty reliable. Steppir now sells Expert in the USA as a distributor. 73, Igor UA9CDC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Quick - KØEKL" <[hidden email]> To: "'John Campbell, Jr.'" <[hidden email]>; <[hidden email]> Sent: Sunday, June 14, 2009 2:33 AM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] solid state hf amp > Another vote for Tokyo Hy-Power.
