The latest beta firmware, 3.63 has been promoted to full production
status. Improvements will be ongoing, based on your feedback. But we have a high degree of confidence in this revision, and suggest that all K3 owners upgrade to it at their convenience. Some of the most significant changes since the last production release (3.14) include: * Automation of often-used control sequences via programmable switch "macros" * Synchronous AM detection with optional VFO tracking * Incoming CW WPM display (via TEXT DEC switch) * Improved DVR message play interaction with PTT * Main/Sub receiver audio mixing * Many DSP enhancements including improved NR, Autonotch, and AF response * "Live" memory recall (M>V) as VFO A is rotated * VFO coarse-step rounding * RF GAIN linearized and S-meter accuracy improved with RF GAIN CAL procedure * SHIFT control steps of 10 Hz optional for CW or DATA modes * VFOs tune down to 490 kHz * Lockable transmit controls (PWR, MIC, CMP) * Automatic CW VFO offset on mode change (typically used for 6 m cross- mode) * GHz transverter digits displayed * Many new and enhanced remote-control commands If you have questions about any of the above, feel free to post a question here or to email k3support. Thanks again for your diligent testing of beta and field test releases. It's great to have so many outstanding operators working with us as we continue to refine the K3. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Should the utility V1.2.10.27 recognize 3.63? It claims the version it
just downloaded is 3.57. 73, Mike NF4L Wayne Burdick wrote: > The latest beta firmware, 3.63 has been promoted to full production > status. > > Improvements will be ongoing, based on your feedback. The K3 utility always gets them from the same ftp directory on our web
site when you press 'check Versions Now'.. Its pretty mindless - in a good way :-) Make sure you also have also checked the 'Copy new files from elecraft into Local Folder' box before pressing 'Check Versions now'. I leave that one permanently checked. 73, Eric Grant Youngman wrote: > On Nov 23, 2009, at 4:38 PM, Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft wrote: > > >> Don't forget to press the "Check Versions Now" button on the Firmware >> Tab to get the latest stuff off of the ftp site. >> > > > Or, browse to the FTP site, download the files, save them away, expand the file with the firmware in it, and then browse to them in Utility. > > Works every time. > > Grant/NQ5T > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi mike,
when i ran it here, I was just confirming that the correct files were on the ftp site and that K3Utility could see them. I was worried I had copied the wrong ones. Pretty much this is the first time we've ever heard of some people not being able to see the files automatically on the site via K3 Utility. Just trying to see what you are doing different on that end. 73, Eric Mike wrote: > When I was in the software biz, "It works on my box." was not an > acceptable response. :-D > > Mike > > Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft wrote: > >> I just installed ran K3Utility on my system here, and it gets the new >> files from the website with no problem. >> >> Don't forget to press the "Check Versions Now" button on the Firmware >> Tab to get the latest stuff off of the ftp site. >> >> 73, >> Eric >> >> ==== >> >> Phil LaMarche wrote: >> >>> My utility doesn't bring it up either. >>> >>> Philip LaMarche LaMarche Enterprises, Inc. >>> www.instantgourmetspices.com >>> >>> >>> > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

What may be happening is too many people are trying to contact the ftp
site at once and it is refusing additional connections. Try it again a little alter after the rush subsides. e Mike wrote: > So I downloaded another copy of the utility, and installed it. Well, there's a link on the software page at the very bottom. There you will find a folder called "beta". Download the folder, or if you don't want the release notes, just download the zip file. Expand it. Browse to it in Utility and go for broke.
I'm not sure why 3.63 is still in the "beta" folder, but that's where t'is at the moment :-) Grant/NQ5T On Nov 23, 2009, at 4:54 PM, Mike wrote: > I can do that Grant. I suspect that the Utility is doing its FTP using Wininet functions. For non-programmers that means it's essentially getting Internet Explorer to do the work invisibly in the background. It's a good method, as it usually avoids firewall problems - as long as the user's browser is allowed access to the web, the utility should be able to access it too - but it does mean that it is affected by browser settings. If someone happens to have a huge browser cache and the files are still there from last time then IE will "helpfully" show you those instead of looking for new ones.

One other thought - does your local directory "G:\Downloads\K3\3.63"
still exist? if it were deleted that might also cause the same problem. 73, Eric ------ Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft wrote: > What may be happening is too many people are trying to contact the ftp > site at once and it is refusing additional connections.
