K3 double beep when not connected

M0XDF
Due to other commitments, I've had my K3 disconnected from everything
and sitting in it's case for a few weeks now :-(.
I notice every now and then, it gives a double beep. Don't recall
seeing this described in the manual, can anyone explain what this
means - other than it reminding me I should be using it!

It's the sporadic E indicator. Double beep means MUF has reached the presetted level set in the Config menu.
It can also be the K3 has received a cellphone connection request (3beeps)

Thanks Harris, I thought it might be that - Battery obviously doesn't
last that long when the K3 is not connected to 12v.

What battery?  The only battery in the K3 is the 2032 lithium battery
for the clock and memory backup.  It doesn't beep to my knowledge and
should last for years.  Mine has been in the radio for almost two
years and there is no 12V applied when the radio is not in use.

Re: K3 double beep when not connected

M0XDF
well, it was Harris's response that the battery needs changing -
waiting for someone from Elecraft to get up and respond sometime - no
big panic :-)
