Hi all,
In a recent discussion about SPLIT, many proposals were made (too many :) Others argued for no change. With this in mind, we've created a new "switch macro" feature. It allows you to create your own variation on SPLIT -- or any other radio function -- and execute it with a single switch press. In effect, you'll be creating your own custom firmware for the K3 that automates control sequences you use most. Example #1 (SPLIT+2): A>B A>B SPLIT VFO B up 2 RIT and XIT off Example #2 (WEAKSIG): Sub ON Diversity mode main/sub preamps on 200-Hz bandwidth center passband Many other combinations are possible, limited only by the K3's remote- control command set and the macro length limit (presently 56 bytes). You'll be able to set VFO frequencies or RIT/XIT offsets, adjust gain or filter controls, and virtually "tap" or "hold" nearly any control on the radio. First, you enter a sequence of K3 control commands into one or more macros using K3 Utility, which can store them in the K3's EEPROM. Next, you assign the macros to any of the K3's 10 programmable function switches (PF1, PF2, M1-M4 tap, or M1-M4 hold) using the new MACRO menu entry. After that, activating the switch will perform the desired functions, and the name of the macro will flash on VFO B as a reminder (e.g., "SPLIT+2"). This feature is presently being evaluated by our field testers. But we'd like to invite more of you to try it and give us feedback. If you're interested, please send email directly to n6kr at elecraft dot com. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
This is really great Wayne!

I would rather use tap instead of hold. But my M1-M4 are occupied by the CW memories. Meanwhile, there are some switches ( like REV, RX ANT, ATU TUNE, ANT...) that I never use, because of my opperation habbits, or because I don't have the accessories installed. How about making them programmable too? 73 Val LZ1VB ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Wayne,
something seems not to work here with the cat commands. When I send the cat commands only VFO A changes by 10Hz steps, whether I use UPn;/UPBn; or DNn;/DNBn. No change in VFO B. The other commands do what they supposed to. Am I missing something? 73 de Roland, DC1RS

Wayne, the macro feature works quite well. Thanks for the great addition! I now have +2 and +5 splits programmed into my PF1 and PF2 keys. Easy, and a great time saver!
How about a macro database or exchange page where users could post the macros they made? That would allow a faster and easier macro road for those who (like me) struggle with programming codes. An external device as suggested by others would also be a great accessory, allowing the availability of more macros. 73, Lou, W0FK <quote author="wayne burdick"> Hi all, In a recent discussion about SPLIT, many proposals were made (too many :) Others argued for no change. I'd like to accumulate useful macros and incorporate them into the K3

There's no way to activate the few "long hold" switch functions yet,
but I'll add that to the list. You can activate normal scanning using an SWH (switch hold) command. 73, Wayne N6KR drewko wrote: > Hi Wayne, > > Is there a switch emulation for SCAN AF ON (i.e., long hold on the > SCAN button)? Hi Tom,
I'm working on it as we speak. I hope to have the macro code completed this weekend. I've also completed the Time/Date and RF Gain Calibration features. Here is a macro that will immediately scan the range from VFOA through
VFOB, without having to first do the M->V/ V->M, etc. sequence as is normally required for a new SCAN. The macro automatically stores the scan range in M4. VFOA should be lower in freq than VFOB. The macro can scan in unsquelched mode (AF ON) by holding the assigned macro key for a long push (just as with the SCAN key). Macro sequence: V->M M4 M->V M4 SCAN Macro Text: SWT15;;;;;SWT39;;;;;SWT23;;;;;SWT39;;;;;SWH41;;;;; (Note, the extra semicolons are required for delay timing.) 73, Drew AF2Z ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

This works!
Tried coupling the subrx on command with the "mono" audio command as another macro (to avoid getting "linked", diversity or something else when pressing the SUB button...... and feed both audio outputs into both ears). Hung the K3. Had to power down to recover. Probably my fault somewhere. Anybody do this successfully? DSP commands can't be embedded in switch macros. Instead we'll be
incorporating the AF mix command into regular firmware. But you can put vfo and mode commands into a macro, etc., which is
about the same thing as recalling a freq memory. Great macro idea, Drew. I'll add it to the examples in the
