Who was the station that said they were running 5w output? I heard them
pretty decent.

Phil,
Please emphasize to relaying stations to pass check-in stations calls and names to you.  I tried to check in and was acknowledged by a 5 land station who apparently did not pass my check-in to you.  Thanks.  Roy Morris  W4WFB

I thought I heard a 4 down in the noise, but nobody relayed it.  Could have
been you.

Sure.  Will do.  I thought I was getting the relays.

Thanks for trying.

Elecraft SSB Net results (5/3/09)

In reply to this post by Phil and Christina
We had a short SSB net again today (1800Z) on 14.316 MHz.  The signal levels
were down considerably to net control. Stations that are usually well over
S9 were about S9, and most east coast stations were below S6 (some in the
noise most of the time to me). Relays were needed. We had 19 participants
including net control and ran for 21 minutes minutes.  The discussions were
about how folks are finding Firmware Ver 3.11, noise reduction and Dayton.

We had a light SSB net today (1800Z) on 14.316 MHz.  The signal levels were
not particularly good. The strongest signal to net control was 58, with many
below 56.  We had 16 participants including net control and ran for 22
minutes.  The discussions concerned K3 knob problems and the size of the K3
relative to larger rigs like an FT2000.  The latter helped assure someone
who is getting ready to make the jump to K3s.  Here is a list of the 21

Elecraft SSB Net results (5/31/09)

Phil and Christina
We had a short SSB net today (1800Z) on 14.316 MHz.  The signal levels were
terrible.  A couple of stations were S7/8, but most were S5 or weaker.
Probably half of the check-ins required net control to run the gain wide
open to (barely) copy. We had 14 participants including net control and ran
for only 13
minutes.  Signals were too weak for discussions.  Pray for sunspots.  Here
is a list of the 14 participants:

Elecraft SSB Net results (6/14/09)

Phil and Christina

We had a very short SSB net today (1800Z) on 14.316 MHz.  The signal levels
were way down and attendance was too.  Perhaps it was propagation, coupled
with the VHS contest (I know I have been enjoying working new grids on 6
meters with the K3) and general summertime lulls. We had 10 participants
including net control and ran for only 10 minutes. There were no
discussions.  Here is a list of the 10 participants (4 or 5 new to the net):

Station Name QTH Rig S/N

Elecraft SSB Net results (9-13-09)

Phil and Christina
We had a very short and sparse SSB net today on 14.316 MHz.  The signal
levels were not very good.  We only had 12 participants including net
control and ran for 11 minutes.  My apologies to KB9BNI, but I was unable to
pull your rig information through.  Here is a list of the 12 participants:

Station Name QTH Rig S/N

W0FM Terry MO K3 474
K4GCJ Gary NC K3 1597
AD5SX Paul NM Jupiter
K4SO Mark VA K3 2861
W8OV Dave TX K3 3139
AE5JD Bart TX K3 2106
WB6HPF Al CA K3 974
W4PFM Paul VA K3 1673
KB9BNI John IN
N0TA John CO K3 994
AE6IC Fred CA K3 2241
NS7P Phil OR K3 1826

Thanks to everybody who checked in.  Have a good week.

73,

Phil, NS7P

Re: Elecraft SSB Net results (9-13-09)

W6ODJ
Dear Phil,

Tried to join the SSB net Sunday morning PDT.  Couldn't even hear NC.
Just noise.

Two problems:  First, there seems to be a carrier just above 14.316
that's there week after week.  (At least here on the CA coast.)  I
wonder if something could be done about the carrier, say moving the
net to 14.314.  I can null it out, but can't afford the loss of signal
that entails.

Second, I have S8-9 RFI noise here in urban San Francisco on 20
meters.  The RFI is my problem, of course. Very frustrating.  I'm
working on a loop receiving antenna.  Stay tuned.

I wonder if maybe the net could be moved to 40 meters until the MUF
increases?  Or maybe two nets, one on 20 and one on 40 like the CW
nets do?

Oliver Johns

Elecraft SSB Net results (9-20-09)

Phil and Christina
In reply to this post by Phil and Christina
We switched our frequency to 14.314 MHz today to try to dodge some QRM that
has been persistent on 14.316 for some people.  That change was positive for
one of the stations that has reported issues before.  However, today a DX
contest was providing plenty of QRM all over this end of the band.  Many of
these stations were in Europe and were plainly heard in the US, but they
made copy of the weaker net stations difficult.  We had 16 participants
including net
control and ran for 18 minutes.  Here is a list of the 16 participants:

Station Name QTH Rig S/N

NA0F Larry MN K3 1953
W2RWA Dick NY K3 2603
K4GCJ Gary NC K3 1597
AD5SX Paul NM Jupiter
K8DJC Nelson OH K3 560
K1BBM John MA K3 2579
W9DVM Phil FL K3 1605
K0JWC Jim MN K3 3447
W8OV Dave TX K3 3139
VE3QF Tony ON TS950
N9YKE Don WI K3 2505
W0CZ Ken ND K3 457
K4SO Mark VA K3 2861
AC0NM Glenn OR K3 2843
KD5ZLB Edwin LA K3 3147
NS7P Phil OR K3 1826

Thanks to everybody who checked in.  Have a good week.

73,

Phil, NS7P
