East coast stations were not very strong today, and we had no California
check-ins. Lyle using his prototype KPA500 was S9+10 into the side of my quad - not bad for less than 300 miles! The net only ran 20 minutes with 26 participants. No discussion. Propagation seemed good this week. The number of check-ins was the largest
in quite some time - there were 42 of us over 34 minutes! Early in the net, the check-in requests sounded like a DX pileup. For some reason, I thought that you were portable W6. My apologies. I guess that I have gotten too used to poor propagation and filled in the blank incorrectly. Propagation was uneven this week. The great plains and west were good here
in Oregon, but signals from the eastern third of the country were not very strong. California was good at my QTH, but I needed relays for the Washington stations. There was a quick discussion about the availability date for the KPA500, with January 2011 being the current estimate. There were 30 of us over 27 minutes. Thanks to everyone who checked in. Propagation seemed good this week. We did have to move down 2 kc to get
away from a special event station that moved up to 14.315 for us. Hope everybody found us ok. To me, most siganls were good, but there was splatter at times running on top of the weaker signals. We still have trouble at times picking up northwest US station that I struggle to hear. I'll be looking for those of you in the midwest or Rockies to relay them to me. Once again, I'm afraid I heard nothing. I started listening to 14.314
from 1745 and continued until 1815 and I heard nothing but atmospherics. During that time I qsy'd up and down to be sure I wasn't missing anything. My antenna is a vertical and there is a rise in the land to the west of me. Perhaps the combination cuts me off from the West! I'm fine into eastern Europe, so I know that my rig's ears are fine. Propagation seemed OK this week, though the number of stations checking in
was down due to QRM (CA QSO Party). There were 18 of us over a 20 minute period. Both EI6IZ and ZL1PWD checked in with good signals off axis to my quad. In fact, KG7UY in OR (the only other OR/WA station that was on the net) was relayed to me by Brendan, EI6IZ! There were no discussions. Thanks to everyone who checked in. Propagation within the US was spotty this week, though both EI6IZ and ZL1PWD
checked in off axis to my quad. Jim, W4RKS had a strong signal here in OR; and he called for those I couldn't get, turning up another six stations. Thanks, Jim. Conditions seemed good this week. I could hear most everyone from here in
Oregon, including KL7UW and ZL1PWD, both well off of my quad's front lobe. We had 34 participants over a 29 minute net.
